A September 26 photographed walkthrough reports the Update 2 Volcanic Egg in one place: Dragon’s Lair on Volcano Island. It describes two 20-second return stages. Practice the path before you pick it up; use the live countdown as the final authority.

Source · Pro Game Guides ↗Get to the island
Travel past the Desert biome toward Volcano Island. The guide recommends Phoenix or another capable flying pet. Locate the small entrance on the volcano’s right side before the spawn announcement so you do not waste the egg window.
Reach Dragon’s Lair
Follow the interior paths downward to the sleeping Dragon. The report places the egg beside it. Memorize your return route while approaching; the pickup is the point at which the first escape clock begins.
Two return stages
The pictured guide reports 20 seconds to leave the volcano while dodging fireballs, then another 20 seconds to reach your ranch. Treat those as reported update-specific timers, not permanent rules. Finish by placing the egg in a nest, not merely reaching the island shore.
Radar and reward
The guide says Eternal Radar does not point to Volcanic Egg even though the egg is Ethereal. Watch the spawn announcement or Tracker NPC instead. The guide links the egg to Griffin, but does not establish a guaranteed Griffin hatch or a pet-specific drop rate.
Source reviewed 2 October 2026. Route, timers and radar exception are third-party observations from Update 2; check the current game state.
